Although I in no way claim to have a clue what I am going with photography, I was happy with the following shots from today’s very short outing with the new camera. I might go back out to a particular spot at sunset, today. Please note that no editing has been done to the photos aside from cropping them together in a single image.
Well, I almost gave in. And technically, I did for about 10 minutes. As my most recent post shows, I just got a new camera. With that, I thought it would be cool to get on Instagram by using it as an outlet for my new photography hobby (that hasn’t actually gotten off the ground yet).
I just couldn’t do it.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I realize the irony here. I am suggesting that I wasn’t able to give into using social media while posting on my blog-site (which in and of itself is a form of social media). Rather than creating a social media account with an existing site that can very easily lead to countless hours of mindless thumb motions, I decided to just stick with a single creative outlet (this website). Rather than having an Instagram account to showcase my new photography hobby, I deleted the newly created account and have instead decided to stick with a photography post page here on the I Must Be Ignorant site.
No telling how often I post on that page, because the hobby is still new and there is no telling how often I will be out with my camera. Regardless, I have opted out of instagram.
Almost, but just couldn’t.
Now, obviously I am just now getting into this camera… and I haven’t figured out the settings and focus yet, but I will. Today was my first day actually taking it out and goofing off with it. These two photos (although not great), are me just playing with the zoom on my back porch. I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty ridiculous. I think I am going to have fun trying to capture wildlife with this thing. I have a few locations already picked out to visit with this sweet, sweet camera.
My hope for today was to get the chance to do some night sky observations, but it is relatively overcast right now. Oh well…
Now, I am not one to generally splurge on things for myself… But, for this item I made an exception. I have been eyeballing the Nikon p900 for close to 7 months now and finally just gave in and got one. I am in no way a photographer, although I do have quite a few friends that do it for a living. No, I just enjoy the art of it. Although I am inexperienced, I am looking forward to tackling this camera and having it on my outings with the family.
For example, this thing would have been great to have at the kite festival this last weekend.
Here is one example of why this camera has gotten my attention.
It has been a really fun project, but all fun things eventually come to an end. Updating the store has been completed. All of the listings on The Store have gotten totally overhauled visually. In the process I also went through and did some updates to the Analytics for the site as well to help boost traffic. And I have to say, I am already seeing a difference.
Here are how some of the photos turned out.
The friend of mine that was very happy to help in this endeavor was my friend from church Mercedes Morgan. She is a professional photographer here in Austin. She does special events, family portraits, weddings, and the like. I definitely recommend checking out some of her stuff. Her skills with the camera are very clean and I am thinking my family will be hitting her up sooner than later for some family photos for the dining room.
Although I have decided to not do an update on the store until all of the photos for every listing are complete, I wanted to write a quick post letting everyone know what is coming up.
A sneak peek… if it were.
One of my friends from church is an epic photographer. With that, I have outsourced to her with the need for updating the photos for the listings on the Etsy Store. This is what she has sent thus far. These are clean, crisp, and eye catching. I am excited to get the store totally updated. Once the photo shoot is complete the store will be getting an entirely new visual overhaul with her help.
With that, be on the look out. Because, soon the store is going to be looking jam-slam. And until then… this is the only sneak peek you will be getting. The next time I post about this, it will be because the store has been totally updated with new and improved professional photography.
