Hidden messages within modern commercials

Today’s post is another one regarding the degradation of our society away from the core values of morality.

While I was in the break room this morning I happened to catch this 30 second car commercial. For one, it shows how no one actually communicates anymore. Instead, people find themselves consumed by their devices (or better put; vices). The thing that I took away from this commercial however was the last thing the driver had to say.

He said, and I quote… “I have a brand new putter you don’t even know about. It’s awesome.” The way in which he said it, implying that it would remain a secret did not sit well with me at all.

Having pointed that out, I like how this commercial is so subtle with its none car insurance related message. First of all, we see the nice car, the beautiful healthy kids and pretty wife, as well as the insane amount of gadgets everyone in the car has. As a result it is very easy to assume that this is what success is supposed to look like.

Because, honestly… this family seems to have it together when you consider those aspects of the visuals we are presented (new car. Tons of expensive toys, etc.).

But, I digress.

Not only is this family disconnected as a result of being connected to their vices. It also implies through the driver’s final statement that there is a level of dishonesty, resentment, or even an intentional withholding of information within the family unit. Despite the fact that this family appears to have it together based on their material possessions, we can clearly see that the spiritual integrity of their relationships as a family is not founded in having open and honest dialogue.

I don’t know about you, but I would prefer honesty over luxury any day. Unfortunately, in this day and age we are constantly force fed this type of subtle propaganda to no end.

The sad truth is that this commercial is a success simply due to the fact that so many people within a family unit can relate to something as subtle as making a several hundred dollar purchase in secret while knowing that every financial decision can and does affect the entire family unit.

In short, if you are a covetous  person who prefers the pursuit of self interest over the values of honesty within your family unit, then this car insurance is for you.

But… who are we kidding. I am clearly ignorant, and I am just overthinking things. What’s the harm in shoving this down millions of people’s throats on constant repeat?

Probably nothing.

The Netflix Original: Atypical

This post is my personal reflection on having watched a few episodes of this show.

maxresdefault

Over the course of the last 4 or 5 months I have almost completely stepped away from television entirely. When I say almost, what does this mean exactly? Well, for anywhere between an hour to an hour and a half each day that I go to work I have a lunch break. There is a television turned on 24/7 in said break room. With that, I occasionally get my dose of nonsensical shows like Judge Judy and the Jerry Springer Show. Generally however, I do not watch the television in the break room. I rarely ever find myself glancing at it unless it is on something like global news or the local weather.

Having said that, I honestly do not remember the last movie I went to the theater to see. I think it might have been Interstellar (though I could be wrong), which should tell you something about my slow decline away from mainstream media considering the fact that it came out in 2014.

In the midst of this personal trend choice I have stepped away from traditional social media as well. Outside of this blog, my bandcamp account, and my Etsy store, I don’t really interact online very much. No more Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Tumblr. I just didn’t have time for it. But, honestly, not having time for it isn’t the real reason why I have started to step away from all of it.

2

I have started to step away because I am becoming sensitive to what I take in. Most everyone knows and understands the phrase “desensitized“. And as a culture, watching movies, trolling social media, and television has desensitized us in a much bigger way than most of us are willing to realize or admit.

I have gotten to where I realize that the degradation of our society and the demoralization of our Christian values is a result of the desensitization of our society itself through the aid of mainstream media.

Now, I realize that what I just said is in no way a ground breaking truth. I think deep down most people already know and realize this fact, plain and simple. The only difference is that I am trying to do something about it on a personal level with Christian based intention.

So… what exactly prompted me to post this blog and start getting on this rant about some silly Netflix show?

1

Well, I was actually in the middle of writing a science blog about how space is fake, but… I recently broke the rhythm I had going by watching a few episodes of a Netflix original show called, Atypical. I think I managed to watch three episodes in a row.

What prompted me to watch this show was the content and the relevance is currently has to my life.

Sarah and I are in the processes of becoming foster parents. This means that we have the potential of caring for a child with special needs. With that, this show seemed like it was worth having a look at. With that, let’s take a look at what this show is all about.

Atypical is a heartfelt comedy that follows the struggles of a family as they raise and care for their teenage son with autism. Seems wholesome enough, right?

netflix-atypical

Sadly, this is not true. After having watched just three episodes I quickly saw a trend within the show that did not settle well with me as a Christian. Although, on the surface this is a loving show that gives the general public a glimpse into the true realm of what it means to care for a child with special needs, it had a much deeper story than that. One that is easily and intentionally overlooked.

What I mean by that is this; If we take away the core story of autism, what are we left with?

Sadly, the answer is degradation and the desensitization of our society. This show promoted drug use, premarital sex, adultery, theft, lying for the benefit of self interest, and more. As silly as that sounds it is absolutely the truth. Please tell me how something like that can be calcified as wholesome?

Some of you may be wonder how I came to this conclusion. Seems a little harsh wouldn’t you think? Well, the way that the show is laid out is quite nice. You see, when we are presented with these sins within the show, we are presented them in a way that implies that these sins are justified as a result of the daily struggle associated with the challenges of raising a special needs child (It is okay that you sin. life is tough and it is natural to need a release from time to time).

There is a constant sexual tension between almost all of the main characters playing minors in the show. In one scene they are buying condoms. In another scene they are at a strip club to get a look at breasts. The list honestly just seems to go on and on.

Basically, what this show told me had a lot less to do with autism and a lot more to do with the fact that it’s okay that you live in sin. Again, we understand that life is hard and as a result it’s natural to fall into these types of things. The lust of the flesh is real and life is hard. So, why fight it? Just give in and let life happen. That is what the story of this show really came down to.

So, with that… I can’t help but look at what this world currently deems to be wholesome. All it does is affirm the entire reason why I have started to step away from it all in the first place.

Because, let’s face it. If I am okay with something as wholesome as constant sexual tension between minors, promoting drug us, theft, and adultery for the sake of saying these things just happen because life it tense… then where do I really draw the line?

What we think become what we say. And what we say becomes what we do. Since it starts with thought, shouldn’t I take every thought captive in Christ?

2 Corinthians 10:5 – Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

At this point some people will probably tell me I am being over dramatic. I’m sounding like a morality Nazi. And honestly, maybe I am. Having said that, I am in no way condemning anyone (christian or otherwise) that enjoys going to the movies, watching television, or listening to music that promotes the desires of the flesh. Every believer is in a different place and I understand that. However, all I can account for is myself. When it comes to that great day of judgment I am going to have to take account for Me.

With that, it seems like I ought to be more sensitive to what I taken in rather than more desensitized. And the more I step back and actually evaluate what the world is trying to force me to take in, the more I realize that it isn’t good in the most subtle of ways.

Because remember, shows like the Netflix original Atypical aren’t in any way subtly making you comfortable with your daily sins, leading you to have an unrepentant heart because you grow to feel that daily sin is natural and okay. No, in fact it is quite the opposite.

3.png

Constantly pushing the sins of others in my face while presenting them as the natural reaction to daily struggle is the last thing that I need in my daily walk with Christ. All that will lead to is complacency and a desire to compare myself to those around me rather than comparing myself to the one that maters, Christ.

But, what do I know. I’m over reacting… how ignorant of me.

Aytpical is a super heartfelt and wholesome show. You should go watch it.

We are reaching a place in society where you are either hot, cold, or riding the fence. And if taking a side by choosing to no longer ride the fence makes me seem delusional, then so be it.

This show, just like everything that seems to be placed in front of us these days is nothing more than a degradation of Christian value and moral.

Rant over.

Final summary: atypical – a show about the justification of sin in daily life.

Is the mark of the beast already here – 2017

Revelation 13:16-17 – And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

An ultra-trendy co-working space in central Stockholm is offering microchip implants to its 2,000 members, in order to help them open doors or operate office equipment. The implants have become so popular, the work space stages regular parties where attendees can get “chipped.

And before you point out that some of these people are getting it in their left hand rather than their right, please remember the bible says that he will force you to take the mark at some point. Right now, those that are taking this mark are doing it willingly. There is a difference.

It’s not only starting to ramp up in the US this year, but overseas as well.

With all of this in mind, I would point out a post I did a few days ago regarding the removal of physical cash in 2018 with the aid of bitcoin.

This stuff has been on the cusp of taking of for nearly a decade now. News agencies like CNN and NBC have been telling us that this type of technology was headed our way for a while now. Well, it is finally here… right on top of us. There are a lot of other examples to look at. For starters there are a few large night clubs both in the states and abroad that use the rfid chip as a way to allow VIP members to skip the line at the door while also having rapid access to the bar. Some of these clubs also have what is called rfid implant parties.

Another example of how this thing has grown is what one spokesperson for an American based company had to say while chipping its employees this year. “When we came across this and saw it being used in other societies, we said why not us?

This means that it is already being used elsewhere to a large degree.

I am sorry, but I guess I am ignorant and I just don’t get it. Why would I be okay with going into a society where they have that much control over the populous? If they don’t like you for any one reason they can just turn off your chip (no more buying… no more selling).

This photo taken 10 May 2002 shows the VeriChip, w

Now, I am in no way suggesting that this rfid chip is without a doubt the mark of the beast. I have no personal way of knowing that for sure. No one does. All I am pointing out with this blog post is to what degree it has built up steam in the last 8 months worldwide.

With that in mind, I can’t help but wonder how many Americans have this implant already. With the drastic rise in articles like this one  popping up recently I wouldn’t be surprised if the average was currently something like 1 in 30.

But hey, what do I know? I’m just ignorant. Keep on keeping on and let big brother make your decisions for you. Because, before long regardless of whether its the rfid chip or not, there is coming a day when he will cause ALL to partake in just such a venture.

Final Point – please note that it says “to receive a mark in” and not “to receive a mark on“.

Revelation 13:16-17 – And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Bitcoin – 2018 Predicted in 1988 and space rocks

I do not at all claim to know anything about bitcoin and I realize that a lot of people have probably already seen this Economist Magazine cover from 1988. So, with that… I realize that this is nothing new. That does not however change the fact that it is right around the corner. 2018 is only a few months away (2018 being on the bottom of the coin in the cover art).

bitcoin.png

With that in mind I am curious to see what happens with the current global currency system (debit/credit/paper). I find the cover art for the magazine to be rather interesting. The burning money and the phoenix. The fact this bird in particular represents death and rebirth and the evolution of a renewed dying system. The zero with the dash in the middle of it more than likely is based in numerology and mathematics, meaning empty set (out with the old and in with the new). I however find it rather odd that this same symbol in several languages is a representation for light.

Revelation 13:16-17And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Now, obviously this bitcoin system will not be the mark (which I believe will be a physical mark). However, I do find it funny that the current bitcoin talk on the web is that it is seemingly fail-proof (you can’t just print more money and that they will set a cap on how much is in circulation). With that in mind, you better believe there will a false flag very shortly after switching from the old system over to this one… which will in turn give way to the excused needed to actually implement a physical mark. Here is a blog post I recently wrote that shows of a similar system already being implemented overseas.

This stuff is coming faster than most people realize. Does that mean that the end will happen in my lifetime? I don’t know… no ones does. What I can say however is this; it wouldn’t surprise me if it did.

With that in mind I find it hilarious that we have people like Stephen Hawking predicting the end of the world. It seems like every time he talks on this topic, the time gets shorter and shorter.

flying-stephen-hawking

“We are running out of space and the only places to go to are other worlds. It is time to explore other solar systems. Spreading out may be the only thing that saves us from ourselves. I am convinced that humans need to leave Earth,” – Stephen Hawking

According to good ol’ Steve, we need to abandon earth of face extinction within the next few decades. Since he seems to think we need to leave, I have to ask… where does he expect us to go?

Because, Bill Nye seems to think there is nowhere to go! And honestly, I agree…

Anyway… I say all of that to say this one last thought to help kind of tie it all back together. The 2018 magazine reference and the upsurge in bitcoin isn’t going to solve anything. All it is going to do is usher in the excuse needed to implement a physical marking system for economical coherency in this rapidly changing world.

There is a reason why all of this is suddenly ramping up. Because time is running out.

So, the question is… what does global currency have to do with space exploration, Stephen Hawking predicting the end of days, and the signs of the times? Exactly that… time.

Timing is everything. And it is all unfolding simultaneously.

Revelation 6:16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.

Sorry, Stephen… but trying to hide on another rock isn’t going to help.

The Great American Eclipse of 2017

On Monday, August 21st we have the Great American Eclipse happening. It is a pretty exciting thing indeed to have such an event taking place across the entire continent of North America. With that in mind, I have been thinking on it quite a bit… and honestly, I have one major question.

c-1920

But, before I ask my question we need to clarify how it all works. Bear with me for a moment while I try to elaborate on what we need to know to grasp how these bodies orbit or spin in relation to one another. Hopefully this is written in a way that it isn’t too hard to follow.

So… here we go.

To make one complete rotation in 24 hours, a point near the equator of the earth must move at close to 1,000 miles per hour (1,600 km/hr). The speed gets less as you move north, but it’s still a good clip throughout the United States. With that being the case, for simplicity sake, we will say that the earth spins at 1,000 miles per hour while making one full revolution within a 24 hour period. Within the course of one full rotation, the earth spins a total of 24,000 miles in 24 hours (seems simple enough).

The Moon orbits the earth at a speed of 2,288 miles per hour (3,683 kilometers per hour). During this time it travels a distance of 1,423,000 miles (2,290,000 kilometers) for one full revolution. The sidereal month is the time it takes to the moon to make one complete orbit around Earth. This is about 27.32 days. The synodic month is the time it takes the Moon to reach the same visual phase. This varies notably throughout the year, but averages around 29.53 days.

This would mean that one full revolution for the moon takes close to 27 or 30 full 24 hour periods. This would then further imply that the earth would in essence spin on its axis a total of 27 to 30 times while the moon itself completes one single revolution. In other words the moon during one full 24 hour period would have traveled only a total of 54,912 miles. This is roughly 1,368,088 miles shy of completing one full revolution.

To better grasp what I am getting at, the following video is a great animated visualization of these two bodies and their respective speeds of motion (the earth spinning on its axis and the moon orbiting the earth). This video makes it seem a lot less complicated than I just did, for sure.

In this video you will notice that both bodies are moving from West to East. The earth spins on its axis in an eastward direction. The moon orbits the earth in an eastward direction as well. With that in mind, both of these objects move from west to east in their respective speeds. This is something we can all agree upon I hope. The earth is going one speed. The moon is going another speed. They both travel in the same direction.

Seems simple enough…

There is however a major error that occurs when you consider the two speeds and the fact that the earth is generating a full revolution at more than 27 times that of the moon’s speed. As a result, although the Moon is moving to the east relative to the earth, the much faster westward motion of the sky is carrying it to the west, so despite its eastward motion relative to the center of the Earth, it rises in the east and sets in the west, just like any other celestial body.

To better grasp what I am rambling about, go back and watch that video again. You will notice that although the earth and moon are both traveling eastward, the earth’s greater speed is causing the moon to appear to travel east to west rather than west to east in relevance to the observer from ground level on the earth.

The point here is simply this; although the moon travels from the west in an eastward direction, the earth spins so fast that it causes the observer from ground level to see the moon traveling backwards from east to west instead. With this in mind, go back and watch the animation one last time to see what I am talking about.

Now, assuming that I haven’t lost you… here is the question.

Despite the fact that both the earth and the moon are traveling from west to east, the relative motion of both bodies causes the moon to appear to be traveling backwards from east to west. If this is the case (which it is) please… someone explain to me how in the world is the Great American Eclipse on the 21st is apparently occurring from West to East?

1

This absolutely defies the Copernican Principle.

Again, if the moon due to relativity appears to the observer to be traveling from east to west, how in the world is this eclipse happening from west to east? Someone, please explain to me how this doesn’t totally disprove the Copernican Principle of Heliocentric Cosmological Evolution?

This eclipse is only going to last like 4 hours across the United States. But before we look at the math behind this… let’s let Neil Degrasse Tyson explain real quick how math surpasses our senses. Don’t trust what you can see, touch, or feel… No, instead, trust the math.

With that in mind, let’s look at some math real quick. In order for the moon to defy our senses, no longer appearing to travel from east to west despite the fact that it supposedly isn’t, it would inevitably need to somehow speed up and begin traveling in an eastward direction faster than that of the earth’s spin.

And since it will only take 4 hours for the moon to cross North America on the 21st, this would then mean that the moon is somehow no longer traveling (according to math) 1,423,000 miles in the course of 720 hours. No, instead… on the 21st it will magically have sped up from 2,288 miles per hour to a whopping 69,644 miles per hour so as to defy the east to west observational conundrum.

Hhhmmmmm… I don’t know why, but this bible verse seems to come to mind.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; – Luke 21:25

Who are we kidding though, I am clearly just ignorant.

To the average observer here on earth the moon travels from east to west. But, on the 21st it will be doing its own thing. Don’t worry about it. Just let the math do the talking. Like Neil Degrasse Tyson said, we can’t trust what we see anyway. The science guys will explain this one away. Keep on letting them do your thinking for you.

What does NASA have to say?

Wrong!!!

Whatever… rant over.
Space is fake.

Worship Team Drummer Update

I thought I would do a quick update on the fact that I recently joined the worship team with the church that Sarah and I attend in South Austin. With that in mind, here you go…

Honestly, I am not sure how long I have been on the team now. All I can say is that it goes quick. It feels like I have already been the drummer for the church for close to 4 or 5 months. It probably hasn’t been quite that long, but it feels like it.

unnamed

I am going to be honest and say that, although it feels great to finally be playing drums on a regular basis, it would be a bit more exciting to be thrashing some blast beats or some progressive experiential math rock.

Regardless, it feels great to be part of the team. Don’t get me wrong… most worship style music is pretty basic (I think we have only played one 3/4 song since I started). Being on the team has been a blessing for sure. It feels good to have the opportunity to serve in that capacity. As a result, my guitar made its way out of the closet and got tuned up after like 4 years of just collecting dust. I wrote a song with the worship leader recently (Psalms 61). We recorded it with another friend and it is still in production. Having said that, being on this team has been a big deal for me. I have that itch to write again. I have that itch to record again. Hopefully in the near future I will put together a new EP.

Send Me Home – Digging through Bandcamp

Well, a while back I did a thing. I decided to remove all of the music from my library that was not Christ centered. With that, I ended up trashing more than half of my music. Now that my library is somewhat bare bones I have been itching to find new Christ centered music to fill my iPod with.

With that as my goal I spent about three hours this morning on Bancamp combing through Christian deathcore and hardcore bands. I found more than a dozen that absolutely meet my standard for the genre. But, the thing is… I am also not made of money. I am looking to fill my library for free if I can help it (which is kind of ironic when you consider I used to make a living off of my music). Well, Bandcamp did not disappoint. Rather than get a bit-torrent and steal music, I trolled Bandcamp for bands that were giving away their albums, EP’s, and singles. Although most bands were not doing this I did find 3 albums, one EP, and one Single that sounded fantastic enough to grab.

Of all the Free music I was able to scrounge up this morning, the band Send Me Home really struck a chord with me. If you are into the hardcore scene and are looking for a solid Christian band to check out, their EP – The Struggle, is FREE. I recommend giving it a listen. Hopefully in the near future I will come across a few more gems in the sea of bands littered across the FREE section of Bandcamp. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
