Officially have stickers for sale – Retro style

Well, it’s official I guess. As of today the Etsy Store has stickers. About this time last year I spent a lot of time drawing in my sketchbook before going to bed. And a lot of those drawings just ended up sitting there not really doing anything other than sitting in my sketchbook. With that, I felt like they could get put to better use if I did something with them.

What came to mind, obviously, was to turn them into stickers. If you haven’t checked out the store before… now it definitely the time. I have 6 brand new items that just posted today.

How well these stickers will do is still totally up in the air. But honestly, I am okay with that… because, at the end of the day the store is mostly just a hobby anyway. A creative outlet that lets me put my art out there. Who knows… if these stickers do well, I might release some new stickers in the future. Which would give me a reason to dust off my sketchbook and start drawing something new.

the Etsy store reached 2,500 sales

Last week I posted a blog about updating the analytics for my Etsy store to help increase traffic. It was a major undertaking, considering the fact that I have something like 60 listings. While I was in there doing all of that silly boring work on each listing to help generate more traffic, I decided to change up the look and feel of the store as well. All of my listings got totally revamped.

And with that, I just wanted to announce that all of that hard work over the course of last week paid off. The traffic to my store has tripled and seems to be staying consistent. With that, I woke up this morning to having reached more than 2,500 sales. That’s pretty cool considering the store is only about a year old. I don’t remember when I started the store, but I am pretty sure it was close to around this time last year. Looking back on it and the three patches I started with I am surprised at how much the store has grown.

I wonder what it will look like this time next year…

Space, the final frontier of discrepancies

I am no scientist, nor do I claim to have any bit a smarts in me wee-pea-brain. But, I can’t help but look at the following images and ask myself if NASA seems to have some continuity issues here. Observationally speaking, the images below don’t really match up.

space1.png

I just can’t help but notice the dissimilarities here. Look at how much closer those rings seem to have gotten while also becoming more in tune with how they would act if gravitational attraction on a cosmic scale were an actual factor. What I mean by that is this… the photo on the left seems to suggest that the rings are somehow offset from the sphere, and as a result somehow defy the way that gravity is supposed to act in the vacuum of space.

Come to think of it, I have looked at Saturn a few times in my life through a telescope. And not once have I ever observed its rings in a geometrical formation around the sphere such as the 2016 NASA photo seems to suggest. No, instead I have always observed it to be much like what we see in the image on the left (offset; defying the centrifugal momentum gravity would place on the rings). Why is it that this inconsistency exists? Why is it that what NASA shows us regarding this celestial body does not match what we can actually observe on our own when looking through a telescope? Apparently, the more expensive your telescope, the more it effects where the rings are positioned in relation to Saturn as a sphere.

Seems logical…

But it doesn’t stop there. If you go back and look at any of the images from 1960 and compare them to today’s NASA images, there are a lot of things that don’t seem to line up. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that the “quality” of a photo changes the way that the image will appear. I understand how focus works. I’ve used a camera. That will however… not change the shape or features of the image to the degree that we see here.

space2.png

Apparently, when you increase the resolution of an image the shape of that image and its features also change. I didn’t know that was how it worked. How ignorant of me. Speaking of shapes… the science people of today seem to suggest that the earth isn’t actually round at all. None of the planets are, apparently. Nope… they are oblate. And according to good ol’ Neil, the earth is pear shaped, because that makes sense.

If that is true, then why are all of the NASA images of any planet showing us something perfectly round? As you can see in the photo on the left of Jupiter, it doesn’t appear to be a perfect circle (which goes along with what scientists tell us about the shape of the earth and other heavenly bodies today). Why then are all of the photos of every planet including the earth perfectly spherical in shape today? They are either round or they aren’t. They can’t be both. Someone needs to get with Neil and Bill to clear all of that up.

Anyway, I feel like this rant has run its course. I just don’t feel that the drastic differences we see in the above images should exist over such a short amount of time. Something has got to give. Either the images from the 60’s were forged… or the images from today are forged. And since I can look through a telescope on my own and see roughly the same thing that was shown in the 60’s, I am inclined to agree with them. On the other hand, I can drop today’s NASA images into Photoshop and by changing the opacity to show where most NASA “photos” have been cropped, edited, or cloned in some way (making them no longer a photo, but a composite – which is a fancy way of saying, drawing). With that, I am more inclined to believe that the images provided to use today are the ones that are fake.

Having said that, here you go… rant actually over. Space is fake.

Someone explain these inconsistencies, please.

And if your attempt of an explanation is simply Googling one phrase, clicking the first video you find, and sending it to me… nice try, but no thanks. If you actually started looking closer at this stuff, you would be asking these types of questions, too.

But who are we kidding… right? I am ignorant.

The Etsy Store is getting some major upgrades

So, I have a couple of supper crazy updates with the Etsy store. I recently got a new patch design up on the store for starters. It’s pretty epic if you ask me. I am stepping away from doing just circles and am going to start designing patches that are a variety of shapes to help mix things up in the store.

Other than that I have been doing a lot of major updates to the store. Not only have I changed the look and feel of the store to match my new website design, but I have also changed the name of the store to match that as well. With the store name now totally changed to match my website I wanted to take things a step further by tackling the analytics to help with search results (something any avid online merchant should do from time to time).

So far I have been cranking through that just fine and have already seen a drastic increase in sales from what little adjustments have already been made. As of today I have tackled the analytics for the embroidery patches on the store. I still need to do the analytics for the buttons and screen print patches. But, for right now I need a break. Doing this type of junk is supper time consuming. Since I have gotten a lot done with the look, feel, and analytics of the store, I thought I would completely finish up my embroidery section by updating the photos.

This is where the frustration comes in.

I cannot for the life of me get my camera to take a good picture. Although these look clean, I am not at all happy with them. But that isn’t the aggravating part. What frustrates me is that I have a specific look and feel that I am hoping to go for, but it just isn’t going to happen with my cell phone camera. No way, no how. The upside-downside to this is that I do have a great friend at church who does photography for a living. She could totally set me up and have the listings in my store looking jam-tastic.

The only issue with that is this…

If and when I add a listing to the store I don’t want to have to depend on her or bug her each and ever time I have a new listing get added. It just wouldn’t be fair to her nor productive for either of us.

If I am going to come up with a solution to this issue, I need to be able to replicate the look I am going for at home on my own time with what camera I have. Sadly, the camera I have isn’t that great.

Anyway, Etsy store rant over… I have been tackling a lot over at the store if you wanted to go in and see the updates. I hope to have two new patch designs posted in another month. And hopefully soon I will get this photo taking issue lined out. Once I have done that and have the embroidery section totally knocked out, I will move over to the buttons and screen prints.

Oh, and another update… will be adding stickers soon also! So, there’s that.

Cards are for serious people, which I am not…

Well, as silly as this may seem to most people I decided to take my website more serious like I used to back when I was touring with my music. I still have a lot of art that I put out from time to time, my music is still available for FREE… and I run an online store these days designing and selling patches, pins, and soon… stickers. Not only is art, music, and patches three good reasons to take my online presence more seriously without getting caught up on traditional social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, but… I feel like a lot of my views on science are relevant and valid.

Having said that, I just ordered some business cards. They are clean, simple, and to the point. It is just something to keep in my wallet for those moments when I run into people that strike an interest in my rambles about science or patches at random. Nothing more… nothing less. Regardless, I have been getting an urge to focus more and be more intentional with my time lately. And this silly little step is one example of that playing out in my life.

When you can’t sleep

I am not sure what the deal is… but I woke up this morning at like 4am and I couldn’t get back to sleep for the life of me. I am not sure what the deal is, but I have been having chest pain while I sleep for the last couple of days. Well, since I couldn’t sleep, I wasn’t just going to lay there and glare at the wall. So, what better thing to do than to totally revamp the design of my site?

Seems logical, right?

Not only did the site get a total overhaul, but I went ahead and made my Bandcamp page match the new site look as well. It isn’t changing the world or anything… It was just better than doing nothing while being wide awake at four in the morning. And besides… I like the new look anyway. It’s cleaner.

Who knows… if this keeps becoming a habit, I might find myself writing again. Only this time, I won’t be writing fiction. I’ll be ranting about things that make me seem ignorant. Perhaps there is a new book on the horizon.

I laughed a little too hard

Now, I know that I already posted about this actual speech by Trump and how ridiculous it was… but I had to go back and re-watch it. It was priceless to watch Buzz Aldrin react to Trump’s comments about space (for those of you that may not know, space is fake, and Buzz knows it).
